Our review today is for a small car that can certainly shock for the value it provides, the Chevrolet Spark.
The Spark falls into the city car segment and has been offered on European soil since 1998. The car has since seen three different generations go on sale over the years. Originally, the car was badged as the Matiz by Daewoo it was not until 2004 is was named the Chevrolet Spark. It was in 2007 that the latest model appeared.
The Spark (or the Matiz) is synonymous with offering great value for money. The latest version does not disappoint on that front either. The level of equipment you get is not compromised by the price either.
Not surprisingly, given the competition in the city car market, the Spark does offer a quality level of equipment at a budget value price.
Petrol engines are offered across the range with your two options; either the 1.0 litre unit or the 1.2 litre power unit. A standard five-speed, manual gearbox is also paired up to both engine ranges.
Chevrolet offers three trim levels with the Spark. The entry-level LS has standard equipment including Bluetooth, DAB digital radio with MP3 connectivity, and electric windows. Next is the mid-range LT which sees upgrades to an LED brake light, a chrome front grille, front fog lights, and a spoiler. The top of the range is the LTZ. This features fifteen-inch alloys, a leather steering wheel, sports-style front, and rear bumpers, projector fog lights, and a six-speaker sound system.
The car is also customisable with a choice of ten colour options which include Black, Red, White, Lime Green, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Silver, Lavender, Yellow, and Grey.
As seems key with the city car market, the standard entry-level Spark prices begin at a very reasonable £8,895. For the LT the prices come in from £10,015 and for the range-topping LTZ models, purchase prices get underway at £11,215.
So if you are looking for a little Spark(le) for little outlay, then track down to your local Chevrolet dealer and take a look.
