Looking ahead to the all new Lamborghini Urus

What began as a concept vehicle has now been confirmed to be a production model and the news was broken around a fortnight ago that Lamborghini had given their first suv the Urus the green light for production. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the new model which will now join more luxury and sports car brands in the segment like Rolls Royce and Bentley with the upcoming Bentayga. The car market it at the biggest it has ever been without a doubt and with the suv division dominating all around the world, it only makes sense for manufacturers to start producing vehicles in this particular division. This is not Lamborghini's first time around and they know how successful this type of vehicle has become, which is why they have developed their very own. When we think of Lamborghini models that have brought success to the brand, models such as the Gallardo and the Aventador aswell as the Huracan come to mind so the Urus is certainly a different direction in which the Italian's are taking their brand.

What does the Urus promise to deliver on?

As the Urus has only recently been given the green light for production, information regarding the specifics of the car are a little scarce for the moment but we do know that when the car was revealed in concept form, it carried the fitting of a V10 sized, turbocharged engine which was also paired up to an electric motor. The brand did however confirm that whatever the production engine is going to be, we can expect around the six hundred brake horse power area to be produced power wise. The new Urus is expected to run on a four wheel drive platform and although not official for the moment, a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission has also been suggested to come along with the new suv.

The exterior design of the Urus showed a familiar Lamborghini front end including the raised lights and sloping bonnet. The same traditional creases in the doors and air vents were two features also revealed with the concept model. It is expected that the bodywork will not change too much when we do see the final production ready version of the car.

The big release time for the Lamborghini Urus

Lamborghini have confirmed that the new Urus will be set to make its way into dealerships from the year 2018 but a cost for the car has not been announced as of yet and we expect that we are still quite some time away from this reveal. The suv division has certainly been the most dominant and with Bentley and Rolls Royce as mentioned above and the new XC90 going on sale from Volvo this year, Lamborghini will look to challenge for the top spot in the division.
