Nissan are planning to reveal a brand new battery pack for their current Leaf model which would result in a longer travel range for the car. The brand are hard at work on developing the new 30 kwh battery which is believed would be offered as an optional choice. Nissan have not yet commented on when the new battery will take its place inside of the new car however, we would expect that it would arrive sometime before the end of this year with the new generation model of the Leaf range going on sale from next year. With the fitting of this new battery, the car would expect to travel from anywhere between 105 and 110 miles before needing to stop and recharge. This is expected to be the last major update that the current generation Leaf will receive and next year the new model will go on sale which is stated to travel for around twice the distance of the current model from one single charge. The Leaf has certainly proven to be one of the most loved and best EV models on the market and with this new battery pack, it will very much continue to do so.
Kia will launch a brand new version of their Ceed model badged as a 2016 model and we can expect to see the car debut from the Frankfurt Motor Show taking place this September. However, you do not have to wait long for your first glimpse at the car, as images have been shared online which show the car leaked ahead of its debut. Some of the big exterior changes are hidden due to the angle at which the image was taken but a revised bumper at the front could also point towards much of the same for the back. New chrome finishes have also been included around the front air intakes. The only other big change was the size of the fog lights which have appeared to have gotten smaller for this particular model which looks to be the GT trim version. Information on interior changes is slim at the moment but updates are expected to be brought in which could include the likes of a different dashboard, a revamped steering wheel and new materials potentially. The big addition however will be a turbocharged engine fitting which is expected to run alongside the carried over, diesel and petrol variants. Keep an eye out for the new in Germany this September.
Skoda will launch a new mini suv model next year and spies have captured the car out and about testing on the road wearing a disguise that makes many think its a new Yeti. This however is not the case as the car is just wearing the body disguise of the Yeti which covers its true features. Information is scarce at this moment in time with it being early into the cars testing but features known about so far include the options of both five and seven seater variations being made available to the buyer. Both petrol and diesel engines are expected to be offered with the car and a turbocharged setup is also expected to be offered. If you're a fan of the Volkswagen MQB platform though, you will be happy to know that the new Skoda suv will run on it. The new suv has not yet received a name but will go on sale from next year.
